Isondo Precious Metals hosts Kgosi Pilane of the Bakgatla-ba-Kgafela Tribal Authority

This week, Isondo Precious Metals had the privilege of hosting Kgosi Pilane of the Bakgatla-ba-Kgafela Tribal Authority at our facility in the OR Tambo Special Economic Zone.

It was the kind of meeting that reminds you why beneficiation matters. The Bakgatla-ba-Kgafela are among the traditional custodians of the land that holds South Africa’s platinum reserves. Seeing that metal turned into catalysts and membrane electrode assemblies a few hundred kilometres away closes a loop that has historically been left open.

Why the visit mattered

Isondo exists to move platinum group metals further down the value chain inside South Africa. That ambition is not only industrial — it is about who benefits when the country’s critical minerals are turned into high-value components.
